Tired of the holiday hullaballoo?  Heard “Jingle Bells,” “White Christmas,” and “Feliz Navidad” one too many times?  Almost got trampled at the department store?  Well, relax with a nice frosty glass of t-shirt designs!  I know, it makes no sense, but does all this holiday hijinks make sense?  I mean really… think about some of the things we do around this time of year…  really think about it.  Actually, don’t think too much about it, because then you might not buy any t-shirts for anyone for the holidays… and that, in the opinion of all the fat gulls out there, would be a crying shame.

We are going to be venting our holiday frustrations this week by doing what we do whenever we get edgy… MAKING MORE DESIGNS!!!

So, with all the holiday feasting going on, this design idea arose out of one of those post-dinner stupors… you know those… where you are just sitting there on the couch with your pants unbuttoned, practically drooling and glassy-eyed, staring up at the ceiling?  Yeah that!  Well… that wonderful orange winter veggie The SWEET POTATO, is, if you think about it, nothing but inspirational. Truly.

So… enjoy the feasting, and EAT all your SWEET POTATOES!!!  They are good for you.  In fact, in their natural state (without a big scoop of butter on them) they have ZERO fat, ZERO cholesterol, some vitamin C, crazy amounts of vitamin A, fiber, protein, iron.  Sweet potatoes just flippin’ rock!  Go with it!

You know… once the badgers start getting grumpy, you know we have some serious problems.  The next thing is going to be Badger Unions, all fighting for equal rights and a 40 hour work week… and where the heck will our economy end up then?  Huh?  Just keep the badgers happy and working and we’ll be alright.  We’ll pull through.  The sky will not fall and the sun will shine another day.

This design has been in the works for a few weeks, first as a little glimmer of an idea, and now as this wonderfully inspiring design.  It comes complete with Whitney Houston lyric reference, which actually may or may not be staying on the design, but we’ll see.  Anyway, here’s a look at the next newwwwwww design for November.

And yeah… we know we’re behind, but we got lots of ideas jumbling around in our brains, so we’ll be with you soon with some more GREAT shirt designs!!!!

I don’t know about you, but to me, Sea Turtles are just the best!  I mean, turtles in general… they rule!  I met a turtle once… well, several turtles, well… actually there were probably about 30 little cute baby snapping turtles in this pond, and we were all leaning over the side of the row boat we were in looking at how cute they were.  Aaaawwwwwww… so cute!  And then, up from the murky depths, rose the grandma turtle, who I swear had to be 200 years old.  She was all craggy, with horns coming out of everywhere… she was at least 2 feet across.  So… there is no moral to this story, aside from this: “Turtles Rule!”  And Sea Turtles are in a precarious situation lately, so think about it.

Hey, you know… better late than never, and better in November than on Pluto in December (forever a planet in our hearts!), since it’s so damn cold on Pluto in December.  But the airfare can’t be beat!

Who better to comment than someone who has been there and done that?!

Well, we’re still on a kick after watching a great movie called “Home” (see earlier posts).  If you know anyone who might dig this new vibe we are trying to create, please please please send them a link to our site or have them follow us on Facebook… or you could even buy them a nice shirt for the holidays… or just because you are nice.  Help us out by spreading the word about Double Barrel Apparel.  We want to make something happen here so that we can sell millions of t-shirts and donate millions of dollars to environmental causes.  And who can’t agree with that idea?  eh?

Now this is a protest I can get behind!

Well… we got some requests for more all-ages wording for our recent designs.  Ask and you shall receive.

Well, we were so thrilled with the outcome of the other environmental-minded shirt design that we wanted to continue the trend.

Here is the second of perhaps many designs inspired by Mama Nature and all the furry and feathered and scaled creatures that just can’t seem to convince us humans that they are too cute to watch them suffer and lose their habitats and their… um… existences.  Heck, imagine if there were 80 gazillion polar bears driving around cars that ran on peanut butter, and somehow peanut butter was the thing that totally f*ed our sh*t up… I mean, we could live with a little peanut butter now and then, but the polar bears just could not stop going to that damn polar bear mall to buy a new faux human-skin purse, and they just HAD to have that 3rd PB-guzzling car for junior so he wouldn’t have to walk to Polar Bear High… Right.  Anyway, I am sure we would not be too excited with Ma and Pa P-Bear if the roles were reversed.  I am almost certain that some cowboy or other would have preemptively shocked and awed the living poop out of the North Pole just to be sure that little Johnny Whitebread would not have to die a slow, sticky, peanutty death.

So yeah… Polar Bears don’t generally respond to their problems by shocking and awing anyone, but maybe you can help them get their message out by wearing this simple T.  We plan to donate a percentage of the profits from these shirts to causes which have a proven record of alleviating the toll of Global Warming on the planet and on those whose voices are too quiet to be heard over the hum of our televisions.

On our day off from our usual ninja hijinks, we like to kick back and throw on a comfy t-shirt… watch some bad kung-fu flicks and make apple crisp. Hey! So what if ninjas bake!?  It’s deadly good apple crisp!

Well, not much to say about the (yester)day’s design… The shirt says it all. Let’s hear it for Nature. She hasn’t had nearly enough attention lately, and considering we all owe her our lives… you know, because of stuff like WATER and OXYGEN and all those little MINERALS and all that FOOD and stuff… just the minor things. Not really important at all.

Right. And also, we watched the Home video yesterday, so if you want to be inspired to put on a nature shirt, have a look. Or if you just want to be reminded of just how much we need to start paying attention… or if you already know, just pass the link on to someone who does not.

Anyway, think about it.

Design inspired by Mother Earth and sparked by Dark Horse.

“Tashi Delek!” is a tibetan greeting. It means “hello/may many good things come to you/good day.” It’s even better when you yell it across the tops of mountains, but simply spoken with good vibes is good enough.

Inspired by recent protests in Tibet and China over the strange decision to ban the teaching of any language besides Mandarin (which would mean teaching the tibetan language would be illegal IN the TIBET autonomous region… WHAT?!?!), this shirt is only a fraction of the sentiments we feel toward the ever friendly, welcoming people of Tibet.

…that wonderful month. November 2009 was so much fun last year. We decided to do a design a day for one month and by the middle of that fine November of 2009 we were asking ourselves, “Who came up with this idea? What the hell was SHE thinking? Who is SHE anyway?” But you know, by the end of November of 2009, we had a bunch of new shirts up on the site, some really great ones in fact! Some others… well, whatever… there were some really great ones!!!

So, despite the cries from the ones who wish to remain sane until the end of 2010, we’re going to go at it again this November. The Great Shirt-A-Thon 2. Junior. The Second. The Return. Another shirt inspired by the Dark Horse.  This is so Dark Horse…  and anyway, don’t we all need a little more chivalry in our lives?!  YES!  Yes we do!

And now… presenting… the shirt inspired by…. Eyjafjallajökull.  (Yeah, we like the word, okay!?)

Sure, it’s been a while since that big ash cloud covered northern Europe… but that doesn’t make the message of this shirt any less true.  Plus, it still makes us laugh, so that’s the best measure of how good a shirt design is.  Nearly 4 months of laughter = a pretty good shirt.

Late this past winter, we started a collaboration with a good friend, who we sometimes call Dark Horse.  This was the first adventure with Dark Horse, and hopefully there will be many more!

Well here we are at day 30!!!  The shirt-a-thon has been amazing and inspirational!!!  And today’s design might be the best one yet!!!  You all can be the judge of that, but anyway, enjoy and thanks for tuning in this month for one design a day!

Another experimental design today… This shirt design may have been in the making for about… 18 years or so.  It’s a long story that can only be told in hieroglyphics.  Anyway, for your enjoyment…  today’s design:

Again, we were delayed, but we are back up and running… and we are coming down to the home stretch for the November Shirt-A-Thon!!!  It’s had it’s good moments and it’s better moments… perhaps this will be a November tradition!  Perhaps.  We’ll see.

Well… we’re venturing into a new dimension of shirt printing…. this will be our first digital print shirt.  It’s really not all that exciting, except that it means we can use multiple colors in designs.  AND FOR TODAY’s DESIGN….  that’s IMPORTANT!!!!

Design inspirations come from many places, people, comments, situations, twitter tweets, facebook posts… everywhere there are ideas flying all around.  Some are deep, some are not. Some don’t seem to be deep, but there is hidden depth… some are simply disturbing and others are just plain funny and then there are some that are just disturbing enough to be funny.  We were trying to figure out how to classify today’s design but then we figured, why classify it at all?  Anyway, here it is:

When modesty does not work… just try blatant honesty… and wear this shirt.  Undoubtedly, something interesting WILL happen!  (fine print: DBA does not guarantee the occurrence of interesting things/events due to the wearing of any shirt designed by DBA or its affiliate companies.  While we are at it, DBA does not guarantee that shirts designed by DBA will result in the wearer of said shirt gaining special super powers or higher IQ. Well… we’ve had more website hits in November than we’ve had over the past 6 months, so the Shirt-A-Thon is working!!!!  Thanks to everyone who has passed our site and our facebook page on to your friends.  It’s been a huge help!!!!!

Well… we’ve crossed over into the second half of November. The designs are flowing well, but some days… we all feel a little like we are running on empty… For those who can sympathize, empathize or otherwise, today”s t-shirt design!

Okay, enough of the mushy talk.  We had to do it after the scooter commuter (the 1st?  senior? I?)….  this shirt just had to be created.

Has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with friday the 13th! We just thought it was funny. And we like cheese. Now it’s a recurring theme, so you can say what you like about us… we don’t care. We like our cheese. That’s all.

Well… November is rolling along, and we’re enjoying the Shirt-A-Thon soooooo much!!! It’s crazy!

Today, we have yesterdays shirt… OOOOPS!!  Again, time got away from us, but anyway, by the end of November (or maybe the 2nd of December) we’ll have 30 shirt designs from the Shirt-A-Thon!  And that, my friends, is wonderrrrfuuuullll!!!!!!!

So… we could not resist another Pi shirt… here it is… the second installment of Pi-mania!

Well… what can we say…  we had to make today’s shirt a Monday kind of shirt.  So here it is.  A solution for everyone… Let’s run down the usual list of sensible terms about this idea:

-Separation of Church and State
-Keep the Government out of the private lives of Americans (and out of the bedroom)
-Civil Rights should not be left to the population to decide (was the last lesson about this not poignant enough?)
-The term “marriage” should be left out of legal documents and civil contracts between 2 consenting adults, regardless of the sex, race, creed of those persons, should be called “civil unions” and should be granted to anyone who pays the fee and signs on the line.

Let’s clean the slate and begin on even ground.  Abolish government sanctioned marriage and legalize civil unions for all.

For those of us who just don’t quite make it all the way to one side or the other…. we present the -like and -ish shirts. I am sure we will beat this idea into the ground as time goes by… there are already 30 other shirt ideas following this same general idea, so don’t get too frustrated with us… we’ll try to hold off for a while.

A little late, but you know how things can be…

Geeky, cute, positive, awesome!  This shirt has it all.  You can wear it and command people without even trying.  Smile Dammit!  No guarantees it will work, or even that more than a couple people will understand… but we don’t wear t-shirts for other people!  We wear them for our-geeky-selves.

Graduate or not, this shirt rings true for many people these days….  or any day….  Life just isn’t as magical and fruity and warm and fuzzy as when you were drinking beers every weekend and living “on your own” for the first time.  Yeah, right… then you get out and have to pay the rent…WHAAAAAT??  and take out your trash and stuff…  MAAAN….

Of course… we know there are those people who go to college and work every day to get through it and pay their own rent and buy their own food and don’t have the time (or a dime) for beer and scrounge and scrape and claw their way to a degree.  We salute you.  Of course, once you finish, keep on climbing and crawling and scraping, because life is hard anyway.

So the take home lesson for today = Life is HHAAAAARRRRRRD!!!  (And we like repeating letters too many times in capitals…  excUUUUUUUse us!  Shirt will be in the shop soon.
